The Juice

Lemon juice enhances the flavor of many different foods, including fish, chicken and a myriad of vegetables.

  • Add a little fresh lemon juice to cooking water to keep white vegetables looking white.

  • Drizzle fresh lemon juice over fried foods (French fried potatoes, chicken breasts, zucchini).

  • Serve a fiery curry over lemon-scented rice.

  • Toss steamed new potatoes with fresh lemon juice and chopped fresh dill.

  • Substitute fresh lemon juice for vinegar in vinaigrette, salad dressing or marinade recipes.

  • Sprinkle fresh lemon juice over scrambled eggs and serve with chopped fresh parsley.

  • Fresh lemon juice will keep sliced mushrooms, avocados, bananas, pears and apples from turning brown.

  • To remove the smell of garlic or onion from your hands, rub a little lemon juice on them.

The Zest

Use the zest in marinades for adding flavor to any grilled meat.  Grate zest into oatmeal and sugar cookie dough for added flavor.  Grate zest into your favorite pound, white or angel food cake batter.
